Become a volunteer with
Kids in Need Waikato
Hands-on help from the community is much appreciated:
- Donate your time to helping organise toys and items for the children
- Help us sort through donations and assemble special bags that cater to a specific child
- Help out in any other way, depending on what needs doing
We're a non-profit organisation, and we greatly appreciate your support.
What our volunteers have to say...
I have been volunteering with Linda since March this year, when I heard from a friend that Linda was needing some help with some of the administration tasks for Kids in Need Waikato (KIN). You feel Linda's energy and enthusiasm for what she has created in KIN from the first moment you meet her - and you cannot help but want to assist her in her mission to help the many kids who move to new homes with little more than the clothes they are wearing.
In the last three months I have helped out using my IT and administration skills - background support that helps Linda keep doing what she does.
I have also made up care packs - under Linda's instruction - and accompanied her to distribute these to foster families, grandparents looking after grandchildren and to other families in need. Meeting with those kids and their care-givers struggling to get their basic needs met is a humbling experience and really touches your heart. Volunteering with KIN has been an amazing experience so far - I love my afternoons in the Shed tidying and making up the packs - gifting time to others costs nothing but can mean so much both to those you help and also helping your own wellbeing. I love it! - Melinda
